OK, what the F? I was walking through the mall the other day, in California, and here is some 20 year old kid puffing on a cigarette working at a kiosk. I thought “that’s pretty bold”. Then I realized it was some wierd electronic, fake, cyborg cigarette thing and he was blowing out vapor and not smoke. It was really wierd! I actually just quit smoking about 3 weeks ago (after SO MANY damn attempts) but I was still quite curious. Have any of you tried this? How is it? I’d be real interested in seeing what you all think of the product. I mean, after you stuff your self at McDonalds and you take a few puffs of this thingamajigger do you get the satisfaction of a cigarette?
Hello, any Groo fans out there? I’ve got to give a shout to Sergio and the other guy invovled for making a funny ass comic that had me laughing my arse off as a kid - GROO THE WANDERER! If you haven’t seen a Groo comic, check one out! And maybe there are none left, and if that’s the case - check out the website:
I guess Twitter is a huge ol’ thing now. I just signed up so maybe I’ll become a big ol’ twitter junkie. I’ll have another post soon about what I think about it…
Here is a quick showing of some dope concept artists. Check out more work from the guys that come up with the monsters in our movies and the ghouls from our games — Concept Art .ORG
Here is an artist I came across today - Zdzislaw Bekinski. He is a Polish surrealist, that I believe has now passed on. I am almost certain I came across one of his books in a Borders book store one day. Looked at his stuff, liked it, meant to jot down a note to remind myself, and then went on. Then again today, I found his stuff. Hooray!
The website of his has most all of his works, probably. Actually I’m sure his studio was packed with stuff no one will ever see. Any way, here is the site: http://www.beksinski.pl/
Digital Graffiti, well, my take on the term, is shown here. I view this work as a manifestation of wild style underpinnings, my attempt to capture the flow of what powers a new school, wild style graffiti piece.
Hustling Hot Dogs in a Pulp Fiction sort of way… MIA comes out banging with trauma’ trauma’!
MIA looks like maybe one girl singer and a hot dog mobile. I don’t know. And Skulls and Bones. That sounds tight. She’s got it tagged on the front of her truck.
Paper Planes must mean paper is just flying in… lot’s of money coming easy. I heard some Jay-Z song with a loop from part of this song… any body know what that was? Leave me a comment. Hope you all enjoy!
The place is just incredible. It’s the largest sports bar in Yuba City by far, and from what I hear, probably the best pizza in Yuba City also. They may get the UFC fights, but that is still up in the air. The owners are cool young guys that are looking to make a great sports bar and place to hang out in Yuba City. The Happy Viking is part of the Downtown Business Association of Yuba City.
Adrian Lee is an artist I first noticed in Juxtapoz, I believe. Actually, it may have been a different art mag, but I found an ad for his new collection of gear and an art book in Juxtapoz. His tattoos are freakin’ brilliant, and his art work is completely bad ass as well.
I think he uses computer fonts for his paintings - something that I will take from his style. His lettering is great regardless. You need the skills to do anything cool with fonts, and he’s got them.
I jumped in to Anvil Brand Tattoo shop in Marysville yesterday and had a chance to talk to Matt. He runs the shop alongside his father, who I didn’t get to meet. Matt showed me some of his work and gave me a few pointers on how to become a tattoo artist. He does both color and black and white and has some impressive stuff. The shop is top notch- it’s like a tattoo museum with tons of flash, paintings and illustrations by he and his father and some cool stuff they’ve collected through the years.
Matt’s got some sick lettering as well, and showed me a few things about cursive lettering and suggested some books on the subject.
If you are looking for a tattoo studio in Marysville, CA or a tattoo shop in Yuba City, check out Anvil Brand Tattoo right on the main street in Marysville, across from McDonalds.
