AWR Graffiti - Art Work Rebels
As a small toy…er boy… growing up in Santa Rosa, CA, I use to take trips on the ol’ Golden Gate transit to visit my friend in San Francisco. That must’ve been, mm… maybe ‘92-’95 or so, and I had my first glimpse of the AWR crew. I didn’t really know any one to guide me in the whole graffiti game so I tried my best and learned on my own. AWR - Art Work Rebels, though I know it stands for other things, is a crew in the Bay Area. I won’t go on and on about AWR because I really don’t know a lot and I’d just sound unedjumikated on the subject. I know they have some tie in with MSK - Mad Society Kings and that Revok and Saber are with them…so I guess they are up in LA too. Enough of my bull shit, go check out their site -
I some how lucked my way into a super fat loft space in San Francisco during the dot com days when I worked at an ad agency, and if you hopped out my balcony and onto the roof of the adjoining building, Revok had done a big ass burner on the wall there. If people came over that were interested, we’d hop over and I’d show them. It was like my own little AWR art gallery. When I left that place, I threw my mattress out the window (which a bum came and made a part of his home within about minutes, no shit) and I left a concrete buddha facing the Revok piece. AWR is pretty dope, so go check out their site!
